Dear
Parents and Guardians:
Welcome
to another year of excellence at the Friendship Public Charter Schools –
Woodridge Campus. I would like to
introduce myself to you as we embark on a new school year. I am Jennifer Dahl and I will be your child’s
4th grade teacher. This year
your child will be challenged greatly as they become the students of the
Indiana University graduating class of 2025!
It
is my belief that positive interaction between teacher and parent strengthens
the feeling of support all children need for success in school. My goal is to
create an atmosphere of open communication regarding your child's progress and
behavior in both home and school.
Woodridge is undergoing many exciting changes this year as we continue
to implement the International Baccalaureate program. At Back to School Night on September 5th
I will share much more information about how these changes will impact your
child.
I am
constantly moved by people who have risen to meet high expectations, and I intend
on incorporating this value in the classroom.
I will hold all students accountable for giving their best effort on all
assignments. Every night your child
should read for 30 minutes, which is considered part of their homework. Parents
are the key to making homework a positive experience for their children. I ask
that you make homework a top priority at home, providing a quiet environment, a
particular time and necessary supplies. I hope that this will
help you to find out a little more of what is happening in class instead of
hearing, "What did you do in school today?", "Nothing", or
"How was school today?", "Good". Later this week your child will be given an
agenda book, which should be signed by an adult at home every night. This is a
great way for us to communicate with one another!
As
your student’s parent/guardian you are aware of the specific strengths, needs,
goals, and concerns that make your child unique. To help me serve your student better, I have
attached a student information sheet which includes parent/guardian contact information. Please have your student return it by Wednesday, August 30, 2012.
Over
my past six years at Woodridge, I have seen great success with my students because
of supportive parents and guardians like you.
To continue that success for your child, please feel free to contact me via phone or email if you have
any questions or concerns about your child’s progress. I can also be contacted by email at jdahl@friendshipschools.org.
I look forward to meeting you
at Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
With
warm regards,
Jennifer
Dahl
